I recently purchased a used server. Here’s the deets:
Dell PowerEdge R630:
Dual Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v4 @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz 28 Cores
128Gb RAM
4Tb SSD Storage
4x 1Gbit NICS
Operating system:
Windows Server 2025 Datacenter w/Hyper-V enabled
I deploy all projects into virtual machines (VM) managed by the Hyper-V platform. All of my projects are linux-based. When I am installing linux, it is the server install. This does not install a desktop so all interactions are via command line or web-based interfaces. This saves a lot of space and computing bandwidth by only installing what you need for that server to operate the services you need.
